Keeping the Covenant as a People
Facilitator: Aaron Bishop

Overview: “Keeping the Covenant as a People,” based on Denver Snuffer's Colorado talk in which he said:
"You cannot keep the covenant. I cannot keep the covenant. Only we can keep the covenant. The covenant was apparently designed by God to require all to labor together. This is a long way off, but God is working to bring His people along so that they may be able to keep the covenant together. Creating unified people who qualify to worship God in truth (that is, knowing accurately the past, present and future) is an extraordinary challenge. Only God can do it and He must have willing people. It will require a new civilization."
The focus of this break out session will be this talk.

Mourn with those who Mourn
Facilitator: Jeremy Hoop with Louis Naegle

Overview: I propose a session that deals with Alma's injunction that we must "mourn with those who mourn and comfort those who stand in need of comfort".
Humans are not naturally adept at mourning with others. To do so requires great sensitivity, patience, meekness, long-suffering and all of the fruits of the Spirit. Other cultures, especially Jewish culture, have specific prescriptions for mourning that inform their people how to help others in times of profound grief. Mormon culture can often be insensitive to the grief of the individual, and most of us have come from that culture, it is very possible that we could yet improve our ability to mourn with others.
I would discuss my personal experience with profound grief after the death of my son, Noah and the response, and lack thereof, of others to the experience. Louis Naegle will join me and discuss from a clinical therapeutic standpoint some applications and suggestions of how to better mourn with others, and then open the session up to discussion.

Studying the Condemnation to Remove it

Overview : We will discuss The Condemnation describes in T&C 82 (D&C 84) and the in the title of Denver Snuffer’s commentary on the Book of Mormon.

This study/ discussion will involve studying the meaning and use of these words “vanity”, “unbelief”, “condemn”, “scourge”, “judgement”, “new covenant” particularly as it relates to “the gentile”.

We will study T&C 18 (D&C 22), 82 (84), D&C 131, 3 Nephi, The Answer to Prayer for Covenant and the Glossary as our scriptural texts.

The purpose of this break out session is to gain a better understand of our covenant with the Lord as His people that we might be true disciples.

Learn to Read and Understand Isaiah in Hebrew

Overview: "The records in the form you have of The Old Covenants given from Adam until Moses and from Moses to John are of great worth and can serve my purposes..." (Answer and Covenant, 2)
As a covenant people, we have a completely new and different view of almost everything. It's amazing to read the scriptures, see new and amazing truths there that seemingly jump out for the first time, and realize that there is so much more there that we have yet to uncover!
"Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently, for great are the words of Isaiah." (3 Ne 10:4)
We have been promised that in the last days, we will understand the prophecies of Isaiah. New technology is now emerging that helps us to be able to read and better understand Isaiah's words in the original Hebrew. I will present an overview of the new tools that are available, and then together we will use them to read and more deeply understand some of the well-known passages of Isaiah directly from the Hebrew.
Using these new tools and framing Isaiah's words in light of our new understanding of the restoration and with the benefit of seeing and living in the days about which he wrote, promises to yield truths that are glorious indeed.
The words of Isaiah should be fulfilled — behold, they are written, ye have them before you, therefore search them." (NC 3 Ne 9:7)

Do our new scriptures change anything?

Overview: The Restoration Edition Scriptures treat seriously what Joseph Smith attempted to give the saints. The changes introduced in them were substantial enough to invite and then receive a covenant from the Lord. So what is different about the RE Scriptures that invited His attention? Why are those differences important? Should we have seen any of this coming?
"Wherefore, the fruit of your loins shall write, and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of your loins and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines, and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of your loins, and bringing them to the knowledge of their fathers in the latter days, and also to the knowledge of my covenants, says the Lord. And ... my work shall go forth among all my people, which shall restore them who are of the house of Israel in the last days." (Genesis 12:39)
At that day when the gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fullness of my gospel, ... Behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fullness of my gospel from among them. And then will I remember my covenant which I have made unto my people, O house of Israel, and I will bring my gospel unto them. And I will shew unto thee, O house of Israel, that the gentiles shall not have power over you, but I will remember my covenant unto you, O house of Israel, and ye shall come unto the knowledge of the fullness of my gospel. But if the gentiles will repent and return unto me, saith the Father, behold, they shall be numbered among my people, O house of Israel. (3 Nephi 7:5)
Joseph Smith stated, “It is not the will of the Lord to print any of the new Translation in the [Evening and Morning] Star; but when it is published, it will all go to the world together, in a volume by itself; and the New Testament and the Book of Mormon will be printed together” (JS Letter 21 April 1833; see also 1 Nephi 3:24). And again, “At no very distant period, we shall print the book of Mormon and the Testament, and bind them in one volume” (July 1833, Evening and Morning Star).
And John saw and bore record of the fullness of my glory, and the fullness of John’s record is hereafter to be revealed. (T&C 93:2)
Substantial changes to and explanations from the RE Scriptures are helping us to develop a clearer understanding of the Lord's work. Specific examples from each of the new Standard Works will be discussed and possibly an explanation of how the greater insight causes the scriptures to "grow together" to confound false doctrine, lay down contention and establish peace among the seed of Joseph. Finding changes discovered in the new scriptures can facilitate the "growing together" of the books and help us prepare for all the events spoken of in prophecy.

Healing within the Gospel

Overview: This session is intended to expound on what it means "to heal", or what "healing" means within the Gospel and throughout the scriptures, with a special focus on the Book of Mormon, and the words found in the Answer to Covenant. I would like to talk about an overarching path of topics that relate to Healing within the Gospel, which include: Repentance, Sacrifice, Becoming like a little Child, Faith, Pure Knowledge, Charity, Hope, Forgiveness, Labor, and more Repentance, all leading up to what it truly can mean to "Be HEALED".
We cannot be healed without each other, nor can we properly be healed without the Lord, and this requires labor on our part, there is a work to be done. "It is not enough to receive my covenant, but you must also abide it. And all who abide it, whether on this land or any other land, will be mine and I will watch over them and protect them in the day of harvest, and gather them as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings." The Lord intends to heal us and give us understanding, he rose from the dead and conquered all in order to do this: "And after he is laid in the scepulcher for the space of three days, he shall rise from the dead with healing in his wings, and all those who believe on His name shall be saved in the Kingdom of God." 2nd Nephi 11:5 R.E.
The Lord desires to heal us and give us understanding: "I desire to heal you from an awful state of blindness so that you may see clearly my will, to do it." A&C pg 2. "And what is my Spirit? It is to love one another as I have loved you. Do my works and you will know my doctrine; for you will uncover hidden mysteries by obedience to these things that can be uncovered in no other way." In order for us to receive what he desires to give us, we must learn to do it together, to love one another, and to rejoice in the Lord as brothers and sisters. "I descended below it all, and know the sorrows of you all, and have borne the grief of it all and say to you, Forgive one another. Be tender with one another, pursue judgement, bless the oppressed, care for the orphan, and uplift the widow in her need for I have redeemed you from being orphaned and taken you that you are no longer a widowed people. Rejoice in me, and rejoice with your brethren and sisters who are mine also. Be one." It is obvious to the Lord that we need healing: "...obtain a new heart, for you have all been wounded." (all quotes in this paragraph: A&C pg 7.) it is my belief that this topic has importance as something we all should discuss, learn about and then do more to assist each other in the covenant, and bear one another's burdens, it also ties closely with the overall theme of this upcoming conference.

The Dhammapada
Facilitator: Jill Van Haren

Overview: As seekers of Light and Truth, wherever it may come from, diving in to the waters of “Easter Philosophies” can be intimidating. The Dhammapada is a collection of sayings of the Buddha. While there is no single-word translation for Dhamma or “dharma” in Sanskrit in Western languages, it can translate as "right way of living.” Pada, at its root, means "foot" and by extension, in this context, means "path.” In this break out session, I will provide the opportunity for others to begin to navigate these waters and learn about the teachings of the Buddha. In a safe group setting you will discover the amazing similarities of these Eastern thoughts with the teachings of Christ 500 years later. I will be giving a free copy of the Dhammapada to all who attend. We will then proceed to listen to a reading of the cannon, presented like Proverbs, read by Jothi Tharavant. While listening we can take notes as led by the spirit within us and stop to discuss as a group at any point along the way. I do not intend to teach this, only to offer to lead a group into the discovery of this beautiful cannon of scripture. We will begin with parts one and two covering chapters 1-15. This covers half the entire cannon, which is the most widely read and best known of the Buddhist scriptures. Teens – The next critical step toward Zion

Overview: There have been hurt feelings among us. If we are going to be the most repentant people in the history of the world; we must be excellent communicators.
A critical step to repenting and living peaceably together with is knowing HOW to apologize.
We can be the best people on the planet at understanding the anatomy of a good (and bad) apology and become experts at healing relationships. This session proposes to show step by step how to do just that.

Disagreement without Contention
Facilitator: Jimmy Townsend

Overview: The Answer to the Prayer for Covenant states: "For you to unite I must admonish and instruct you, for my will is to have you love one another. As people, you lack the ability to respectfully disagree among one another..." (T&C 157:3). This breakout session will focus on why (as opposed to how) those who have accepted the Covenant should be able to come together and disagree without contending with one another. By reviewing the various precepts of the Gospel and history of other Covenant people, it will lay the foundation of how we ought to view one another with patience, mercy, and love. "Although a man may err in understanding concerning many things, yet he can view his brother with charity and come unto me, and through me he can with patience overcome the world. I can bring him to understanding and knowledge. Therefore, if you regard one another with charity, then your brother’s error in understanding will not divide you." (T&C 157:53)
For example consider: "But it was you who used the Missouri citizens as your hand of judgment to scourge the condemned saints in your attempt to persuade them to repent and no longer treat lightly your word. They still saw no Divine purpose behind their distress, and railed against their Missouri persecutors..." (T&C 156:3). Think about what this means for us. How should we view others who disagree with us? Persecute us? It seems that God is willing to use them to persuade us to repent. In the absence of revelation, we should consider anyone as being used for Divine purpose.
The status of the scriptures, the changes to D&C 110 and 132, our understanding of progression, the parable of the unmerciful servant, the vision of Gethsemane, and more will all be discussed with eye towards how to we ought to view ourselves and one another.

Becoming of One Heart

Overview: The Answer to the Prayer for Covenant asks us if we covenant to seek to become of one heart with those who seek the Lord to establish His righteousness? What does this mean to individuals? What does seeking to become one look like? How has it been for each person so far? Successes? Failures? Where is your own heart currently? What do you lack yourself?
This breakout is not to discuss other people’s failings, or what others should do. This is to discuss our own journey with seeking to become of one heart. Please come praying that you may both offer something from your own journey that may be useful for others, and that you may hear from others something that may bless you on your journey to keep the covenant.
Important items for review: Glossary of Terms: Hardness of Heart, Hearts Turned to the Fathers, Broken Heart-Contrite Spirit. Restoration Scripture: Genesis 4:14, 3 Ne:25, Helaman 2:8, Mosiah 9:9.

The Book of Mormon as a Covenant

Overview: The Book of Mormon has been called "the New Covenant" by the Lord. The purpose of this session is to explore what this means and in what ways the book is, and restores, the covenant with the Lord. This includes an understanding of the origins and purposes of the book, the unique doctrines taught, the way they illuminate and complete the covenant, and the ways we can apply them individually and as a group.
We anticipate this will be more of a group discussion than lecture, with a general outline of questions to consider as a group. All will be invited to ask questions and give input, and we will facilitate the discussion.
The goal is that we will all be able to look at the Book of Mormon in new ways, with increased understanding of its role, teachings, and power in bringing us into a covenant relationship with God.

Parables of Jesus through the Eyes of a Seer
Facilitator: Samuel Vaughn

Overview: Many people view the Joseph Smith Translation as a restoration of the original, that it is literally a “translation” of the original Hebrew Scriptures. However, it is evident that it is a new revelation to the prophet, and that it represents the scriptures "as they are in [the Lord's] own bosom" (see T&C 18:5-6).
"And I have sent forth the fullness of my gospel by the hand of my servant Joseph, and in weakness have I blessed him. And I have given unto him the keys of the mystery of those things which have been sealed, even things which were from the foundation of the world, and the things which shall come, from this time until the time of my coming…
"… and the scriptures shall be given, even as they are in my own bosom, to the salvation of my own elect, for they will hear my voice, and shall see me, and shall not be asleep, and shall abide the day of my coming, for they shall be purified even as I am pure."
T&C 18:5-6
One way to seal a "mystery" is to CONceal it in a parable. As "it is the glory of God to conceal a thing, and the honor of kings to search out a matter", I want to illustrate some instances of the parables of Jesus in the New Testament where Joseph unseals some mysteries to our view. Just as the Book of Mormon is intended for the audience who received it, so the revelations in the JST are for those who have received it, "to correct [our]selves and to guide [our] words, thoughts, and deeds."
Please bring a copy of the King James Version (‘e’ or ‘tree’) of the New Testament for comparison.

Remnant of Lehi

Overview: In NC:3 Nephi 9:11 the Lord gives us a sign of the time when he would gather Israel and establish again among them his Zion. He gives a seven point sign of how the power of the Father will be manifest to the gentiles.
GENTILES - NUMBERED AMONG MY PEOPLE, O HOUSE OF ISRAEL
Seven points of the sign.
1. "if they will not harden their hearts"
2. "that they may repent"
3. "and come unto me"
4. "and be baptized in my name"
5. "and know of the true points of my doctrine"
6. "that they may be numbered among my people, O house of Israel"
7. "and when these things come to pass, that thy seed shall begin to know these things"
We have an amazing phrase link between this prophecy and a prophecy about the restoration of the remnant of Lehi. This links them together in time. As the gentiles received the covenant on September 3rd, 2017 and were numbered among the house of Israel and they now begin to make these things known unto the remnant of Lehi, their restoration will now begin to unfold.

REMNANT OF LEHI - NUMBERED AGAIN AMONG THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL
Seven points of the restoration.
1. "at that day shall a remnant of our seed know they are of the house of Israel"
2. "that they are the covenant people of the Lord"
3. "then shall they know and come to the knowledge of their forefathers"
4. "also to the knowledge of the gospel of their Redeemer, which was ministered unto their fathers by him"
5. "they shall come to the knowledge of their Redeemer"
6. "and the very points of his doctrine"
7. "they may know how to come unto him and be saved"
The gentiles get "numbered", the remnant of Lehi gets "numbered again".
We will analyze this sign and other prophecies concerning the remnant of Lehi. The Book of Mormon is saturated with promises and prophecies to and about the remnant of Lehi. We will look for details that leak from the pages that will aid us in recovering them. This will be a detail dense investigation of what has been revealed to us in The Book of Mormon.
John Pratt will also discuss how the Native American Toltec (after Nephites and before Aztecs) Calendar is now understood and is a sacred calendar. The Book of Mormon and LDS Church were restored according to its holy days and years, not the white man's. Native Americans need to see that both that book and church were really targeting the descendants of Lehi, with repentant Gentiles allowed to be counted with them. Until now, many of them have seen the Book of Mormon as describing the whites as the "good guys" and them as the "bad guys"! We need to get this new message out to Native Americans!

Our Future is Our Past
Facilitator: Scott Roderick

Description: It focuses on the concept from the scriptures that history is repeating itself and focuses on two prophecies, "The First Shall Be Last and the Last Shall be First" is foundational and I examine what occurred in the first half of the prophecy that began with Moses and Israel, continues until John the Baptist and Christ, when a new dispensation is introduced and the covenant opportunity is offered to the Gentiles. After tracing those events it turns then to the second half of the prophecy and Joseph Smith initiating the new Gentile opportunity which is concluded when a second Elias closes the Gentile covenant opportunity and a prophetic figure is sent by the Lord to begin a new dispensation. That lays the groundwork for the second prophecy from Moses: "A prophet shall the Lord God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass that every soul who will not hear that prophet shall be cut off from among the people". I demonstrate from the scriptures that the prophecy of Moses is not fulfilled by the Savior personally, but by His servant who delivers the words of Christ. This servant is the last dispensation head from the "First Shall be Last" prophecy. The majority of the sources are the scriptures, Joseph Smith and Denver's writings.

Remnant Sisters

Description: I am new to the Remnant Movement. I was a member of the LDS church for 46 years. I left the church and was rebaptized in March 2019. I truly miss the association that I had with the sisters in Relief Society. It was a strength to me and there was an acceptance and feeling of belonging that I truly miss. I also miss the opportunity to serve and to discuss faith-promoting experiences with like-minded sisters.
The purpose of this class is to gather ideas so that we can replicate and/or improve upon the Relief Society model (service, education, and gospel study) and adapt it to meet the needs of the Remnant Sisters. I believe that creating a sisterhood would be very beneficial both on a spiritual and emotional level. I have thought about setting up a closed (secret) Facebook Group called Remnant Sisters where we can come together to strengthen and uplift each other. Also, we can use the Just Serve website to find ways to serve in our local communities. I am sure that there are other ways in which we can expand our sisterhood. Please come prepared to share your experiences and ideas so that we can make this a reality.

Israel, Israel God is Calling

Overview: As a covenant people we need to become a latter-day Israel. This includes everything a covenant nation requires. As part of being an Israel we need to be able to communicate this to our family and friends.
This breakout session is about becoming an Israel and evangelizing this to the world and center on:
1) The spiritual architecture of an Israel (covenant people).
2) The physical architecture of an Israel/covenant people (the storehouse, etc.).
You cannot have an authentic Israel without the spiritual AND the physical binding together of a people. If you don't have both of these, the only thing you've created is a group of people who share the same religious hobby.
The goal of the discussion would be to use the scriptures and history and current events to communicate the architecture of Israel and how that relates to us today.
