NEW RELEASE: Lectures on Faith [RE Version]

ANNOUNCEMENT: We have officially released the English RE version of the Lectures on Faith, and also the Spanish/English RE translation of the Lectures on Faith! This was done as part of our outreach to all remnant groups, including the lost tribes of Israel, and all interested Gentiles everywhere. Much work has gone into the preparation of these stand-alone volumes, to make it easy to study and share them with the more than 1.1 billion native English and Spanish speakers worldwide, as well as the billions of others who speak English or Spanish as a second language.

If you are interested in picking some up and in the process getting the best price, the Aerio Store in Scriptures.shop carries both the hardback and softcover version of each volume. It takes them a few extra days to produce and deliver them, but the prices are much lower, so they may be worth the wait.

You can see and order them here: scriptures.shop/additional-materials/

A hearty “THANK YOU” goes out to all who participated in the translation and preparation of these important works of scripture!

Over 2 years in the making, this is the most faithful and accurate Spanish translation of Lectures on Faith ever produced. Also included in this volume is the Restoration Edition of Lectures on Faith in the original English, which was painstakingly compiled from the original manuscripts, making both the Spanish translation and the original English text available to nearly 500 million native Spanish speakers and mixed Spanish/English households worldwide.

If you have Spanish-speaking friends or family, this may be a great way to introduce them to great truths about faith as it relates to God the Father and His son Jesus Christ!

Please note: This is a sneak preview – only the Hardcover edition is available today. The softcover will be available with the official launch soon. Enjoy!

Teachings of Denver Snuffer Jr. Volume 5: 2018 is Now Available!

On the Winter Solstice 2020, The Teachings of Denver Snuffer Jr., Volume 5: 2018 (TDS 5) was published and is now available in 2 different sizes of softcover, as well as hardback, Kindle, and a free PDF download as well. This volume covers the transformative year of 2018.

Denver once told us that one day, we will wish we had hit “print” on all of the materials of the Restoration. Ever since then, we have been working to preserve everything, and to make it all easily available worldwide. The best way to prevent the kinds of changes, erasures, emendations, and outright destruction of the truth that happened from 1844-1921 and beyond, is to spread copies of everything throughout the entire world, so that they can never all be tracked down and destroyed.

If you are interested in preserving all of Denver’s talks and papers, this is the easiest and least expensive way to do it. We hope you’ll take a moment to add it to your library, along with any other volumes of the TDS series that you don’t have yet.

You can find all of them here:
https://www.restorationarchives.com/library/snuffer.php

We hope you had a very merry Christmas, and that 2021 brings greater light and truth to all of those who seek it!

Book of Mormon Audiobook

In addition to the Denver Snuffer podcast (which is topical) and the Light & Truth podcast (which is Denver’s full-length talks), the Restoration Archives has begun work on another podcast: The Book of Mormon audiobook.

The Book of Mormon Audiobook is the audio version of the Restoration Edition of the Book of Mormon, delivered in podcast format. The podcast format is a particularly nice way to listen because your device can keep track of where you are in the flow, and will enable to you to pause at any time, then pick back up where you left off.

If you would like to subscribe, just search for “Book of Mormon Audiobook” in your favorite podcast app on your phone or other device, or follow this link for additional options.

Would you like to help with this project?

The Restoration Edition of the Book of Mormon is the most complete, most correct, and most accurate iteration of that book that has ever been released. In that light, we are working hard to make the audio recording the best it can be as well – including using different voices for the different authors.

We have already recorded all chapters through the end of Jacob, and we are preparing to move forward through the rest of the book as time allows. If you are interested in participating as one of the readers, please send us a message through the contact page here. We will respond to you with instructions on how to send us a sample of your reading voice for consideration.

We Reached a Milestone Today

Quietly, and almost unnoticed, the Restoration Archives reached a milestone today.

If you look in the Library area, on the Denver Snuffer page, you’ll notice that everything Denver has ever said publicly, for which we have a recording, has been transcribed and made available to the whole world. Everything, including all of the podcasts.

It has taken thousands of hours of dedicated labor by our amazing teams of volunteers to complete this task, which looked almost insurmountable at first. Many of the transcripts have received multiple passes to increase accuracy as close to 100% as possible, including even the smallest details. And scripture references have been updated to include both LE and RE citations in many cases.

The work continues, as our transcription teams now turn their focus to making additional passes on older material, to bring everything up to current standards. However, for a brief moment, we thought it would be appropriate to pause and take note of the milestone that was reached today.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to all who have assisted, in whatever way, in building the Restoration Archives. It is a meaningful work, and it matters to many people that this part of the Restoration is being carefully and diligently preserved.

The Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim

Hello friends, we are excited to post this update from the Restoration Scriptures Foundation:

Announcing The Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim!

Over two thousand five hundred years ago, the prophet Ezekiel foretold a future day when the spirit of YHWH would stir the scattered remnants of Israel and restore them to life (Ezekiel 37:11-14). He also prophesied that a second scriptural record would come forth from Joseph to Judah, in the hand of Ephraim, to be used by YHWH to gather all of scattered Israel home into one people and one family that He will again claim as His own (Ezekiel 37:15-23).

This is that prophesied record.

If you have not already seen the announcement for the Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim, please review it here: totheremnant.com

The Stick of Joseph in the Hand of Ephraim Ordering Info. For an extremely short time, until October 22, we have the opportunity to special order them with choice of cover material and colors, to match your RE Scriptures and journals. You can see the various options here: https://scriptures.shop/special-order/buy-now/

Paperback, hardcover, eBook and PDF download options will be available soon, probably in about 2 weeks. We will send another announcement when they become available.

Please note: This is not part of the canon, and it is not part of the scripture set(s) you may have already ordered.

Obtaining the Voice of the People

Process for Bringing Business Before the Body for Ratification. Moving forward, the covenant body needs to adopt a process for proposing, ratifying, and adding new content to the RE Scriptures. On CovenantChat.com, you will find a detailed proposal called “Obtaining the Voice of the People,” outlining a process for bringing business before the covenant body for a vote. This proposal has already been sponsored by more than 25 people, across multiple fellowships and geographies, and is a main topic of discussion on CCC. If approved, The Restoration Scriptures Foundation intends to follow that proposed process, but if something else is introduced and adopted, RSF will follow what the covenant body adopts.

CovenantChat.com

CovenantChat.com (“CCC”) has been set up as a worldwide community gathering place for covenant holders, together with those who are seeking truth, to interact and discuss various matters. Please take a moment to go register, and then regularly monitor the posts and conversations there. No pseudonyms or fake names are allowed in CCC – it is a place for real discussion, by real people, about important things.

Work Flow for Future Editions of the RE Scriptures

When the Lord approved the scriptures in April 2019, these were His words:

You have asked to know if the scriptures are acceptable and approved, or if there is more to be done:

The work that has been done is acceptable and sufficient for the labor now underway. You were permitted to update language, select a current vocabulary, and you were warned not to change any meaning. I reminded you that you do not understand the glory to be revealed unto my covenant people. You were instructed to complete the agreed upon labors, and you have done as was required.

These scriptures are sent forth to be my warning to the world, my comfort to the faithful, my counsel to the meek, my reproof to the proud, my rebuke to the contentious, and my condemnation of the wicked. They are my invitation to all mankind to flee from corruption, repent and be baptized in my name, and prepare for the coming judgment. (T&C 177:1-3, emphasis added)

To those engaged in the effort of printing and publishing, that revelation served as a publishing milestone, and work began immediately to print, distribute, and make “these scriptures” available to the world in a variety of sizes and binding types, some of which were available rather quickly, while others (like the leather edition) would take longer. The agreed-upon labor, although imperfect, was completed and released worldwide as the First Edition of the RE Scriptures by the Restoration Scriptures Foundation on July 18, 2019.

The Lord’s approval in April, and the subsequent worldwide release of the RE Scriptures marked the completion of the labor to restore and recover the scriptures as revealed through Joseph Smith. Now, moving forward, we anticipate the receipt of new revelation(s) as promised by the Lord. The anticipated new revelations may ultimately be adopted by the body of believers as canon and added to the RE Scriptures in the future, either as new editions containing additional sections of the T&C, as new or revised chapters of the Old Covenants or New Covenants, or as altogether new books when enough material has been aggregated to warrant a new volume.

At this time, it is not possible to add additional content to the First Edition of the T&C. The publication of the First Edition has already taken place, and those books have already been printed and distributed to booksellers worldwide. Those books cannot be recalled or “pulled off the shelf.” ISBN rules (as well as the even stricter ePub and eBook rules) do not allow the addition of new content to any current or previous edition. The only allowed changes are to correct any punctuation, spelling, and minor grammar issues.

If the body desires to add new section(s) to the published T&C, this must necessarily result in the creation of the Second Edition (or in the future, the Third Edition and so forth), with a new publication date and new ISBNs for all iterations. This will require at least 10 new ISBNs (which includes all thee paperback sizes, all three hardcover sizes, the journaling edition, the leather edition, the Kindle KDP edition, and the ePub edition), in addition to the free PDF edition and the online version. This will also require changes to the eBooks, which have even stricter rules and guidelines regarding the addition of content  than printed publications do; this will require a global update of the “omnibus” eBook, in addition to the creation of the new edition.

To create the Second Edition of the T&C (or to change the content of any of the RE scriptures), here is what the Restoration Scriptures Foundation (RSF) volunteers will need to do (this is not an exhaustive list):

  1. Discontinue printing of all existing versions of the print-on-demand and ship-on-demand book(s) to be updated. Bookstores will continue to sell through their current inventory, which may take a while. Please note that there is no way to prevent retailers from continuing to sell the old version until they (finally) run out of stock. Anyone could order a First Edition in the future, and if the book still exists somewhere in the world, it could be shipped to the customer as “new.”
  2. Create the new manuscript with all approved changes:Add approved material to the content.
    1. Update the table of contents.
    2. Update all affected page numbers.
    3. Update printing information to include a version number (e.g. v2.0.0).
    4. Update the front matter to include details of any approved changes, canonization vote, acceptance from the Lord, etc.
    5. Update the publication date.
    6. Manually update running headers to reflect all changes.
    7. Create final print-ready files of all books, all sizes, and cover types.
  3. Prepare the new edition for publication:
    1. Retire all previous ISBNs that will be replaced by the new edition.
    2. Purchase and assign at least 10 new ISBNs, one for every size and cover type.
    3. Because the ISBN appears on each cover (and because there is a potential increase in page count), new cover artwork must be created specific to each size and cover type (probably 10 versions).
    4. Review and update title, short description, long description, back-end search terms, back-end settings, and edition metadata.
  4. Submit all versions of the new edition to the publisher for review and approval.
    1. Upload each manuscript to the system (x10).
    2. Upload all new metadata, titles, descriptions, and back-end information.
    3. Upload each new cover to display the new ISBN.
    4. Troubleshoot and correct all upload errors, coding errors, system-required changes, and warnings (this happens with every submission individually).
    5. Obtain final approval for each version before proceeding with publication.
  5. Publish and Activate all updated books.
    1. For each version:
      1. Select pricing model (zero royalty—or as close to zero as the system will allow).
      2. Release for publication.
      3. Purchase proofing copies.
      4. Verify all changes are correct.
      5. Follow up with all major vendors (BN, Amazon, etc.) to encourage them to sync up their catalogs with Ingram for all of the new ISBNs (this takes several weeks and dozens of emails and phone calls).
  6. Update Scriptures.info website with:
    1. Updated content
    2. Instructions on how to know what version of print edition a user has
    3. Version history and change list
  7. Update Scripture.shop with:
    1. History of the project
    2. Version tracking
    3. Product lookup
    4. New links to updated purchase options
    5. Product update announcements
  8. Simultaneously with the above, notify the email list along key points of the process:
    1. Warning that a change is imminent—order now if needed
    2. Alert that the books are no longer available
    3. Alert when the proofs are ordered; new books available soon
    4. Alert when new books are available again

This whole process will result in an interruption of availability of the paperback and hardcover books for an undetermined period of time (probably 2-6 weeks), as well as longer shipping times when the new edition becomes available and they are being printed and distributed around the world.

Here are some facts that must be considered as part of any attempt to alter or add to the RE Scriptures:

  • International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN’s) were purchased and assigned; covers and manuscripts with that ISBN were created and submitted for registration.

  • 48 different iterations of the books were created in various sizes, including small print, large print, hardcover paperback, journaling, and leather editions.
  • These scriptures may contain some typographical errors or mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation. Minor corrections of these types of errata can be made without the need to obtain new ISBNs and create new editions.
  • ISBNs are granted and maintained according to established rules for their use. Adding or changing content results in the book becoming a “new product” and therefore requiring a new ISBN. Incidentally, the rules for eBooks are even more strict regarding what corrections are allowed, due to the existence of the “omnibus” eBook that controls and coordinates all of the various iterations and platforms upon which the electronic versions are distributed.
  • The distribution network carefully chosen for the scriptures is the “gold standard” in the world of book distribution. It includes but is not limited to online retailers, brick and mortar stores, large chain retailers, libraries, universities, etc. We must follow their rules in order to have the privilege of offering our books through their networks and platforms.
  • Since the scriptures are not priced to turn a profit, the Foundation was able to select publishing settings that make it very attractive for all retailers to carry these books in inventory. Some of the larger bookstores and distributors actually pre-print and stock books, which results in a “ship-on-demand” service level, rather than “print-on-demand” availability. Some quantity of RE Scripture books have been printed and currently reside in retailers inventory worldwide.
  • Since July 2019, these books have been part of this distribution network and there’s no way to recall them or add a revision # to them.
  • Distribution of a title can be disabled going forward, but we cannot prevent retailers from selling what stock they already have. Nor can we add revision identifiers to those stocks or to books in people’s homes. The book block for the first edition, therefore, is “closed.”
  • If we are to create a Second Edition of the T&C, we can add whatever sections and content has been ratified by the body and accepted by the Lord. However, we cannot insert new content into the existing First Edition. It would have to become a Second Edition (since it would have new content) and would thus need to be distinguishable from the first. The creation of a Second Edition T&C would require a significant amount of work by volunteers, involving dozens of important actions and publishing steps.
  • Since the canon of scripture is open, new additional works are hoped for and will be welcomed into the body of texts we hold sacred. It is anticipated that they will be printed as often as requisite to support the body of believers. But as described above, there are printing and publishing logistics which must be considered in the process. Given that we have no budget for employees, all of this work must be handled by dedicated volunteers who sacrifice their time and means in order to accomplish the publication and distribution of the scriptures in a way that is acceptable to God, to the body of believers, and to the world.
  • The T&C (Referring to volume 3 of the Restoration Scriptures) is nearing a page count that we may want to consider as having reached a closing point, due to the physical limitations of the machines involved in publishing the paperback and hardcover versions. This could mean a new volume can begin, with a new title, and it can grow and expand as the Lord chooses to reveal more and as the body determines to adopt more. This could begin as a booklet, which the Foundation will make available as soon as there is something to publish. It could grow and expand and be printed every year (or at whatever interval is appropriate) until such time as a decision about a full-book printing is needed. The currently-proposed addition of the excerpt from Our Divine Parents (and/or the entire text of that talk) could potentially begin this new volume, if adopted by the body.
  • It is important that we preserve, track, and document everything we do with the scriptures so that corrections and additions are easily traceable, findable, and understandable, particularly to those of future generations.

The Restoration Scriptures Foundation is a group of volunteers dedicated to publishing the Restoration Edition(s) of the scriptures to the world. The current list of volunteers and their primary area of focus includes:

Taylor Ward (publication)
Cameron Larsen (web store)
Sheri Linnarz (distribution)
Reed Larsen (leather edition)
Lori Larsen (proofing)
Kevin Merrell (layout)
Paul Durham (accounting)
…and others who produce artwork, manage online content, and more.

New Audio Available

We recently received an audio recording of a talk Denver gave on September 18, 2010 at the Chiasmus Conference at the American Heritage School in American Fork, UT.

We have cleaned it up the best we can, and it’s now available on Denver’s page in the Archive. You can also directly access it here.

It contains a lot of great information. We hope you’ll give it a listen and find it worthwhile.
